Brandon’s Champions was founded by the family and friends of Brandon J. Fochs of Appleton, WI. Brandon was involved in a bike/vehicle accident on July 15, 2003. He was not killed instantly because he wore his helmet- as he always did.

As medical personnel worked to save his life, no one knew who the unconscious boy was. Police began searching for his parents. At home, his parents called friends and combed the neighborhood. Brandon’s parents called police to report their son missing and were told the awful news that their son matched the description of a John Doe involved in an accident.

At the hospital, Brandon’s parents were immediately questioned about his medical history. Doctors needed to know if Brandon had a serious medical condition or allergy that could affect the treatments they had performed to save his life. But after a courageous five-day battle, Brandon died on July 20 as a result of lung injuries. He was two months shy of his fourteenth birthday.
