A
Greater Need Than Most People Think
The Brandon’s Champions medical information carrier system
is similar to a luggage tag and affixes to the inside of a helmet.
A small exterior sticker alerts medical personnel to identification
information inside the helmet. This information is invaluable to
medical staff treating a child’s injuries while authorities
locate the parents. Having a medical information carrier system
will save precious time and could save lives.
According to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute and
the National Safe Kids Campaign, more than 800 bicyclists die every
year as a result of injuries and half of those children are under
age 15. 90% of bicycle riders killed in 2000 were not wearing their
helmets. Sadly, 88% of those brain injuries could have been prevented
if the person had been wearing a helmet.
How
to help protect your kids
- Buy your child a bike helmet and fit it
properly.
- Make it rule that every time your child
gets on a bike, skate board or
in-line skates, a helmet must be on his/her head. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Set a good example and wear a helmet yourself.
- Volunteer at a local bike safety rodeo or
organize one in your community.
- Put a completed Brandon’s Champions
medical information carrier in all
helmets.
- Teach your children the “Rules Of
The Road” such as riding with traffic
and hand signals.
- Slow down and give all bicyclists extra
space when passing them.
